About
Cape Breton Island

Cape Breton Island is part of the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. Rich with rocky shores and sandy beaches, rolling farmlands and glacial valleys, barren headlands and mountains, woods and plateaus, Cape Breton Island continuously ranks in the “Top 10 Islands of the World” in travel magazines, making Cape Breton a must to see!

Northern Cape Breton is dominated by the Cape Breton Highlands and its world famous scenic drive – the Cabot Trail. Known for its scenic views and abundant wildlife, make sure you allow several days to explore this special part of the Island. Local wildlife offers locals and visitors many exciting activities….Moose spotting is a popular past-time along the Cabot Trail, as is salmon fishing on the Margaree River, identifying species of birds while kayaking on our many rivers, lakes, inlets and coves, or driving the thousands of kilometres of back roads and trails searching for fox, lynx, bear, deer, birds of prey, and many other species inhabiting our Island’s natural regions.

Equal to the unique beauty of the land are the residents who live here. First Nations, Acadian and Gaelic cultures thrive here. Early settlers came from England and Scotland, including the maternal great grandparents of both my wife and I. Fishing was an early tradition and opportunity for settlers, and remains one of our modern industries. Our paternal great grandparents were settlers from Europe who came to Canada during the Industrial Revolution and who found work in the steel mills and coal mines. Cape Breton’s monuments, community groups, museums and cultural festivals celebrate our rich history and diversity.

Many customers ask us for our favourite location to visit or stay.
